House Mouse Birthday Cupcake

18th April 2012

I love the House Mouse stamps!, they are so cute. This one I've had for a number of years, the number is HMJR1007 I don't know if it's still available. It's certainly a favourite in my collection.

For this card, I've not used a standard card base. I can't remember where I got this fold from, I'm almost certain it isn't my original idea. If you know, please let me know so I can acknowledge the fold designer. The design of this fold is called Joy Fold, and comes from Beate Johns at Splitcoast Stampers. you can find the tutorial with video here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/joy_fold_card/

I've used Stampin Up card stock for this card in Pacific Point for the base, Daffodil Delight for the middle, and the topper is created with Whisper White and  Bashful Blue. I used a scrap of stronger ribbed card (available from Blue Edge Crafts) to die cut the stand which is attached to the back so the card can stand up. The stand is cut with a Tim Holtz Alterations Bigz Die by Sizzex called Small Easel.

I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink pad, and coloured it with Copics.
then cut it out with a Spellbinders Curved Rectangle die. I used the next size up in the same die set to cut a matting layer out of Bashful Blue.

The Daffodil Delight layer is tent folded, I punched the edges with Stampin Up's Scallop border punch, and then embossed it with an embossing folder from Central Craft Collection, unfortunately they don't put the names on the folders, and I can't remember what it's called.

I wrapped a length of Bashful Blue Gross grain ribbon  then used Dimensionals to mount my topper.
the whole tent fold card section was then flat mounted onto the base with strong double sided tape.

to decorate the bottom fold up section, I die cut two small flourishes in Bashful Blue with Spellbinders Floral flourishes die set, and used the die as a stencil to ink the embossed areas with Pacific Point ink before removing from the die. The tag is die cut from Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three, and is also inked before removal from the die after embossing.
I cut a strip of scrap card in white for the centre, inked the edges with Pacific Point, then applied the sentiment sticker which you can get from The Sticker Store. (see link at right hand side)

As you can see from the photographs, the yellow tent fold card section tucks under the sentiment tag to keep the card closed. Inside I cut a scrap piece of white card with a Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Rectangles die and flat mounted to enable a personal message to be written inside.

I particularly like this fold as it's just that bit different, but it's quick and easy to do.

Happy Crafting,
Hugs,
Beth
