Scrapping again

I haven't done a scrapbook layout for a while now, so it's about time I posted the last one I did (which was only last week)

Again my darling 10year old granddaughter Cassandra is the subject. There is about 2 1/2 maybe even 3 years between these photos' but I like them together in this layout.

The layout it's self is a Kaszazz workshop which I did my dear friend Heather who is a Kaszazz consultant.

It only took a couple of hours to do both layouts, which are easy enough for a beginner which makes me happy as I'm not very experienced when it comes to scrap-booking.

Thank you for visiting my blog today, please leave a comment.

Embossing Resist card

I saw a video tutorial by Beate Johns on Splitcoast stampers using this technique and thought it was a lovely idea. You can see Beate's tutorial here http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/puzzlepieceresist/

For my background I used a Stampin Up wheel called Very Vintage. The dies used are Spellbinders Nested Birds and the heart is from Wings of hope.

The Washi tape down the left side is from Trendy Tape.

I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks, my background is Iced Spruce, the little bird is done with Tumbled Glass and the Large bird which I cut on the reverse so it faced the opposite direction is done with Aged Mahogany and the heart with Worn Lipstick.

I used Stampin Up Dimensionals to mount my pieces so they're raised a little bit. The sentiment is from Stampin Up's Pendent Park stamp set.

A few gems to finish and give a little bit of bling which I find almost compulsory.

When doing the background, I found it easier to ink with Versa Mark embossing ink, roll once, add the clear embossing powder and heat emboss, this made sure I didn't mess up my previous row.

I found this an easy card to do, and really like the look of the background, opens up a whole heap of other ideas as well.

Bird in a Cage

Today I spent the afternoon in my craft room with Wanda.
This card is an angled tri fold.
I've used Stampin Up card and patterned papers and bird punch. The border punch is from Martha Stewart and the bird cage on the third section is 'Caged Bird'  a Sizzex die from Tim Holtz.
The sentiment sticker is from 'The Sticker Store'

The DSP's are from 'Botanical Gazette'

Fishy Business

14th January 2013

For a long time now, several years in fact, I've subscribed to  cardmaking.net and their 'Card of the Month'

This months card is called Fishy Business and here are two of the cards I've made from the kit.

The kit comes complete apart from the double sided tape. There are foam mounts, the pens and the cards stock and stickers plus the vellum in this months kit, there is enough to make 4 cards.

The outline stickers are by Elizabeth designs, and are stuck onto vellum. Parts are coloured in with Sakura Gelly roll pens on the right side, then other parts are embossed on the reverse giving the white and textured finish.
The coloured fish and weeds are then fussy cut out and mounted using foam mounts.

I really enjoyed this months project and am now going to go through my outline stickers and see what else I can apply this technique to.

Thank you for stopping by today to have a look at my latest creations.

Ballerina Tilda in Blue

11th January 2013

I had coloured my Tilda image with Copics, and fussy cut her out, then had no idea what I was going to do with her.

It took 3 days of looking at her sitting all lonely on my work desk before inspiration hit and I actually got working on her background. I decided to do a layout I've done many times before, but decided to limit myself to scraps.

After rummaging through my paper and card scraps, this is what I finished up with. Of course the flowers and bling aren't scraps, but I felt it needed some finishing touches.

The card can be for any occasion, which is why there is no sentiment on it. That will come when the time comes to use the card.

It's been so long since I last spent some time colouring in an image that I now wonder why on earth I left it so long, I find it very restful. Maybe it the connecting with my inner child, what child doesn't like colouring in?

Thank you for visiting my blog and checking out my latest creation.

Unstampabelles Challenge No #19 January 2013

7th January 2013

This months Challenge is sponsored by Craft Mad.

For my design team card for this months challenge I have used a variety of dies and embossing folders.

For my base card I used a glossy white card blank from Blue Edge Crafts which I ran through the eBosser with a Couture Creations embossing folder called 'Flutterby Dreamscapes. I then coloured in the embossed areas with Copics selecting to use pale colours so they didn't overtake the doily topper I created.

For my topper I used for the base layer a Cheery Lyn doily die and cut Stampin Up's Bashful Blue card stock. onto this I layered a purchased white paper doily, then a flourish cut using a Cheery Lyn flourish die out of Stampin Up's 'Certainly Celery' card stock. over this went another die cut, this time I used Spellbinders Beaded Circles nested with one of the dies from Spellbinders Enhanceabilities pop up die called Flower Soft, the card used is a pearlesent card stock from Blue Edge Crafts which has a slight shimmer, once cut, I removed the flower soft die and embossed the beaded circle. Once embossed and before removing from the die, I sponged Stampin Up's Bashful Blue ink over the outside ring of beads. Then I sponged the leaves of the pop up section of the dye with Certainly celery ink, and petals of the flower with Bashful Blue.
The sentiment started life as a white sticker purchased from the Sticker Store, which I coloured with Staedtler permanent Lumocolor pen.
The butterfly is a triple layer, die cut using Cheery Lyn dies, the base is cut from Bashful blue and embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folder Swiss Dots, the top two layers are the more detailed section of the die set, and cut from tissue paper, lightly sponged with Bashful blue, I then trimmed back the top layer, Close up you can see the three distinct layers. I finished off with Stampin Up self adhesive gems around the beaded section of the top layer and the centre of both the pop up flower and the body of the butterfly.

Recently I've not used my many, many dies as much as I should, so I really enjoyed foraging through my die boxes and coming up with this selection. The only reason I used a Paper Doily for one layer was because I had 1leftover. I've bought so many doily dies, I doubt I'll ever have to buy another doily. lol

I hope you enjoy this months challenge. Please take the time to check out Craft Mad it's a great crafting forum with some exceptionally talented crafters, and ideas abound. They are a very friendly to the crafters, but if you are spammer don't waste your time, Ian and Mandy are very vigilant in keeping rubbish from the site.

Hope you all have a wonderful, Safe, Happy and joy filled 2013.

Three Stampin Up Cards

4th January 2013

The following three cards are inspired by and made with Stampin Up products, the only exception is the doily on the butterfly card, I have used up all my paper doilies and have no intention of buying more since I have so many beautiful doily dies. The die I used is a Cheery Lyn die.

For the first card I used Stampin Up River Rock card stock cut to A5 scored and folded in half. the SU  Whisper White was cut to 6cm wide x 14.4cm long. The stamps used are from Stampin Up Faith in Nature, and Pretty Postage.
The ribbon is 2/8" wide and match the inks which are Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo and Pool Party.

The Second card is the butterfly card and only the doily is not Stampin Up.  for the doily I used a  Cheery Lyn die and greaseproof paper, the kind you use in the kitchen. (You can easily cut 4 layers of this paper with the die at a time).
The colours used are for the base card is Pool Party, cut to A5, scored and folded in half. I then punched out a butterfly from scrap card and used this as a template to sponge Pool Party ink directly onto the base card.  The sentiment stamp is from Heard from the Heart set and is stamped with Basic Grey ink. I cut two butterflies out of plain card stock, 1 from Raspberry Ripple and 1 from Summer Starfruit. The other 3 butterflies are punched from DSP Sycamore Street. The strip of DSP paper over the doily is from the same pack. both the doily and pennant are sewn onto the base card with white thread. I finished by adding self adhesive gems to the butterfly bodies.

The third and last card in this set is again using River Rock as the base card. The other colours used are Daffodil Delight, Baja Breeze and Real Red. The stamp sets used are Pretty Postage and Cute by the Inch, stamped with Early Espresso ink, then punched out with the 1" square punch, then flat mounted onto a white square punched with the Postage stamp punch.
The strips measure 1" x 3 3/4", on the reverse I marked the 1/2" point along the length, then measured in 5/8" in from each end, then cut from each corner to that 5/8" mark along the 1/2" line, giving nice even triangles at each end.
These were embossed with Vine Street Textured Impressions embossing folder, these are flat mounted to the base card and the squares were mounted using dimensionals.

All three of these cards are very quick and easy to make, perfect for the beginner card maker which is why I'll be using them as samples in my next class.

Thank you for visiting my blog today, I hope you found something you liked and maybe a little inspiration if your mojo has gone on holiday.

Cheers,
Beth

Hydrangea Thank you

3rd January 2013

I made this card with my ladies class in mind.
I started with a 13.5cm x 13.5cm square card in chocolate brown. The stamp set used is Stampin Up's 'Because I care'. the Hydrangea was coloured in with Stampin Up's Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Island Indigo, Garden Green and Always Artichoke  write markers. once the stamp was coloured to my liking, I huffed on it (your warm breath gives the ink enough moisture to stamp) then stamped onto white cardstock, then fussy cut it out, to make it easier, I cut the leaves away from the stem when cutting the image out.

I then used Bashful Blue and Marina Mist to stamp only the hydrangea head on a piece of waste white card. I used this to cut out individual flowers which were then glued into place on the stamped and cut out image.

I used a patterned paper from Stampin Up's Bella Bleu DSP pack, cut to 13cm x 13cm.
The tag was then cut out of Bashful Blue and white scraps using Spellbinders Shapeabilities Ribbon Tag Trio 2 set. the white diecut was trimmed to the inner embossed line and stamped with Choc Chip ink using a sentiment stamp from 'Because I Care' this was then adhered with double sided tape to the blue complete tag die cut.
I used Stampin Up's Choc Chip and white twin which wrapped around the DSP layer which was then adhered to the base card.
The hydrangea head and leaves have been mounted with Dimensionals as is the tag, the stem of the flower was stuck down with tiny dots of wet glue.

For the top corners which looked a little bare, I used a Stampin Up punch to cut corners, the punch cuts two corners one slightly smaller than the other, so I cut one in Stampin Up's Choc Chip cardstock, and the other in Cake crumb, the smaller punched piece in Cake Crumb was then embossed with Cuttlebugs Swiss Dots embossing folder, and stuck in place with wet glue. Dimensionals were used to mount the corners into place.

To finish I added some pale blue self adhesive rhinestones and some stickles to the flower head and leaves.

This is (for me) not an overly fussy card, but was a bit fiddly cutting out the individual petals for the flower head. I think it's very effective though.

Thank you for taking the time to have a  look at my blog, comments are welcome, spam is not.

Christmas Scrapbooking Double layout

2nd January 2013

I had a week of catch up scrapbooking before we flew over to Western Australia to spend Christmas with our eldest son and his family.
The photo's used were taken a couple of years ago, Cassandra was then 8 and we were spending our first Christmas in WA.

The layout is a Kaszazz and Heather Blencowe is my mentor in scrapbooking. Many years ago I used to do some scrapping, but was never entirely happy with the style. Over the years I've seen various style come and go, and finally (with Kasazz) have found a style I like.

Although I've only used 1 photo in this layout, by scanning it and then enlarging and cropping I've selected only certain sections to give me the look I wanted. I've only recently started adding in journalling, and while not happy with my handwriting, try to follow the maxim that it's part of the heritage I'm creating.

Over the couple of weeks, I'll post the other double page layouts I did, also a single page layout that is entirely my own work and owes nothing to anyone but a lovely letter from Cassandra after Christmas 2011.
