Today is one of those rather hot days where you only want to stay inside in the cool of an air-conditioned house and CRAFT! at least that's what I wanted to do!
I always think of green as a cool refreshing colour, so it's no surprise that over the last couple of days the cards I've made have been somewhat green themed.
The first card I made yesterday with a couple of friends, we had been to a BBQ lunch and I decided that i'd rather craft than sit around drinking, I mentiond cards to one friend as I was about to leave and she promptly decided that suited her as well, we had barely started when another friend, (from the same BBQ) stopped by and joined us.
The cards we made while all had the same colours (apart from our birds which we each coloured differently) still turned out quite different because of the way we had positioned our elements and the sentiments we used.
This is my version of the card we made. The sentiment if from Kaszazz, the birds eye gem is from Kaiser, the rest of the products used are all Stampin Up.
Our colour scheme is Crumb Cake for the base card, Daffodil Yellow for the middle layer, and Pear Pizzaz for the stamped and embossed top layer.
We used Nature Walk stamp set 121997, one of the stamps was used to stamp all over the pear pizazz to create a patterned background, as we used pear pizazz ink, it was very subtle which is the look we were looking for. The piece was then embossed with SU's Square Lattice embossing folder to add some texture.
The bird and cage were stamped with basic grey, the bird onto whisper white, then cut out, and the cage onto pear pizazz, we wanted the cage to be there, but not starkly prominent. After colouring the birds, we sponged them lightly with basic grey ink to tone down the colours, and also to give a slightly mottled look reminiscent of feathers. A topaz coloured gem was used for the eye of the bird.
The sentiment is stamped and embossed with bright yellow embossing powder.
All topper elements are mounted with SU dimensionals.
The second card shown, I made today. I rather like rocker cards and have made a few in the past. I wanted to use this particular Foliart pyramid image which I cut out with Spellbinder Nestabilities circles. I'm not so good at cutting a really smooth circle by hand which is why I used the dies, unfortunately I think my placement of the dies was slightly off.
The colours I've used are: Gumball Green, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, and Certainly Celery.
The stamp set for the sentiment is called Fresh Cuts.
For the scalloped base I used Spellbinder Grand Scallop Circles, and the next layer is also a Grand circle die.
The smaller circles are cut with the regular Nestabilities circle dies.
The doily layer is greaseproof paper die cut with a Cheery Lyn Doily die.
The Daffodil Yellow layer is embossed with eBosser A4 embossing folder as is the Certainly Celery layer on the rocker section.
The image is Foliart 677.
I used Kaiser Green gems, Whisper White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon for the bow and tag tails.
The tag was stamped then punched with Ticket duo builder punch 126883, then sponged and mounted onto Decorative label punch 120907, before adhering to the card I stuck tiny remenants of ribbon each side and added green gemstones.
This card will fit into a 15cm square envelope.
Thanks for visiting my blog today, I'm now heading back to my craft room to play with another idea for a card.
Till next time,
Happy Crafting
Beth
