30 December 2011
I've been playing around with different Card shapes all day. This is one of the two cards I made, the other one is somewhat rough around the edges, but good for a learning exercise.
This card folds flat to make a 13cm x 13cm card for mailing so easily fits into a standard square envelope which is generally (here in Australia) 14cm x 14cm.
Everything used on this card is From Stamping Up.
I used Wild Wasabi for the base of the box card, Very Vanilla for the contrast, and a sheet of pattern paper from a now retired DSP Patterns Stack, (it was in the last, not current catalogue)
The Stamps I used are Fast and Fabulous, and Because I care. I stamped the images in Wild Wasabi and Pretty in Pink , additional colour for the internal image (from Because I care) was added using Regal Rose.
I flat mounted the Pattern paper onto the Very Vanilla, and then onto the base card, the stamped images were cut out and mounted with dimensionals (foam mounts) I did the same for the Because I Care sentiment inside.
I finished off with small bows in 1/4" Certainly Celery Grosgrain ribbon, (fixed in place with hot glue) and the only non SU product, Kindy Glitz in the centre of each flower.
Thank you for looking.
Happy Crafting!

One for the Men
22 December 2011
All the cardmakers I know have one little difficulty (generally speaking) and that is coming up with cards for the males in our lives.
I was recently asked to make a card for a customer, I always ask about interests, career, and try to get a feel about how I can personalise a card for someone I have never met.
In this instance I was told that the person was a tradesperson who worked with tools.
This is the card I made. My customer was very happy with the finished card, and hopefully her son will be as well.
Stampin Up have two beautiful stamps which I used for this card, One is a background stamp called Tool Shed, and the other is called Totally Tools.
I used Stampin Up Pacific Point A4 Card folded in half for my base card. then created 3 panels. I used Stampin Up Kraft card for the base of two of the panels, and Early Espresso for the third.
The diagonal pattern paper and the spotted paper comes from an 8" x 8" paper pad called the paper stack by DCWV (die cuts with a view)
The third panel started off as Whisper White cardstock, which I then inked with Distress Inks, I used Faded Jeans, Festive Berries, Chipped Sapphire, Aged Mahogany, Forest Moss, and then to tone down the blended colours I used Vintage Photo, and Pumice Stone Onto this I stamped Tool shed in Vintage Photo. then trimmed to the size I wanted.
From Totally Tools, I stamped onto Whisper White using Memento Tuxedo Black the Totally tools set, but I stamped two copies of the hammer.
I coloured in the tools using Copic Ciao markers, I'll list the numbers and colours at the end. I finished by going over the metal parts of the tools with Spica twinkling like stars 00 clear. (even the males don't mind a little bling on a card)
After fussy cutting out the saw, spanner, hammer and screw driver I mounted them with foam mounts onto the Tool Shed stamped panel. The tape measure, I cut out using a Spellbinder rectangle and a scalloped rectangle in Pacific Point slightly larger I then stamped the tiny word 'son' along the measure, (the word comes from a set I bought from a $2 cheap shop years ago and I have no idea who produced it) and mounted the tape measure onto the blue with Stampin Up dimensionals.
The diagonally striped paper matched my inked stamped image perfectly, and that was pure fluke, because I inked the card and stamped the image before I even started looking for other papers. I was delighted to find such a good match in my stash. (wish I could say I planned it that way) the spotty paper has the same colour dots as are in the striped paper.
The inked panel and the pattern papers are all mounted using double sided adhesive tape, (my preference is for Score Tape) the hammer is flat mounted using dots of craft adhesive onto the spotty panel, then the measure panel is mounted over it with Stampin Up Dimensionals.
Copics used were: C2, C3, C5 Cool grey No's 2,3 & 5; Y17 Golden Yellow' YR07 Cadmium Orange; E11 Barley Beige; YR16 Apricot; E25 Caribee Cocoa.
I hope this card helps give you some inspiration for those difficult to come up with male cards.
Happy Crafting,
Beth :-)

Triangle Easel Card
20/12/2011
The past few days have been really busy as two of my darling grand-daughters flew in from Perth Western Australia for the Christmas Holidays. Their parents, my eldest son and his wife were driving over, a 3000km journey, they've done it many times before, but this time without the kids, they took their time, made detours, and generally had a much more relaxed and interesting journey. Cassie (aged 9) will be driving back with them, while Samantha (aged 18) will fly back as she has work commitments.
Great to have them here, exhausting though, and it also means I don't have as much time for my crafting. Last night and today were spent working on a couple of commissions, as I don't like to keep my paying customers waiting. (who would???) not if you want them to come back anyway. lol
As Christmas creeps ever closer, I'm over making Christmas cards and have moved onto other projects.
Tonight's card is another triangle easel card. I've made a few of these and really like the different look they have. the image is another Lili of the Valley image, and is coloured with as usual, Copics. I'll list all the colours used at the end of tonight's post.
I used Kaiser 6 1/2" paper pad 'Blae & Ivy as the patterned papers, Stampin Up's Kraft card stock and Bazzil linen for the blue, can't tell you what colour as it's old stock and I no longer know what the colour is called.
I used SU Bakers twin in Early Espresso for the threads in the buttons which are also from Kaiser. the ribbon is olive organdy 1cm wide, I used Versa colour inks in sky blue and sage to ink the edges of the pieces. the mini 1cm roses are from Green Tara, blue Kaiser gems to finish with a white peel off greeting.
I also used Spellbinders Ovals and a SU border punch.
The copics I used were all Ciao markers in the following colours:
G00 Jade Green; G02 Spectrum Green; YG11 Mignonette; Y11 Pale Yellow; Y06 Yellow; Y17 Golden Yellow; V12 Pale Lilac; BV00 Mauve Shadow; V09 Violet; B45 Smoky Blue; B00 Frost Blue; B12 Ice Blue; R20 Blush; RV04 Shock Pink; R32 Peach; E00 Skin White; E53 Raw Silk; E11 Barley Beige; E25 Canbe Cocoa; C2 Cool Grey No. 2; C3 Cool Grey No.3; C5 Cool Grey No. 5.
Thanks for looking, If you copy please acknowledge me as the source.

Get Well Soon
17/12/2011
I've used another Lili of the valley image on this card, they are so very cute and cover pretty much all occasions.
I decided to use a Blue theme for this card, as it needed to be signed by a few people, I made it an A5 size card.
I used quite heavy leather grain card for the base card, and Stampin Up Pacific Point for the blue card stock.
The pattern paper used for the background is Stampin Up DSP 'Paisley Petals'
The pattern paper used for the large rectangle is from Kaiser 6 1/2" paper pad called 'Blae & Ivy'
I used Central Craft Collections Butterfly embossing folder for the plain Pacific Point rectangle and the sentiment tag.
The image was printed onto SU Whisper White and cut with Spellbinder Nestabilities Beaded Circles die in the largest size, I inked the die cut before removing from the die, the edges of all cut pieces are inked with Distress Ink in Faded Jeans.
I added SU Chantilly crochet ribbon 1/2"wide and tied into a bow.
The image is coloured with Copic Ciao markers, I'll list the colours at the end.
the sentiment is a gold peel off sticker from the Sticker Store, see link at the side.
Copic's used are:
B24 Sky; B12 Ice Blue; B000 Frost Blue; RV000 Pale Purple; YG03 Yellow Green; YG06 Yellowish green; E40 Brick White; C5 Cool Grey No. 5; Y02 Canary Yellow; E11 Barley Beige.
Thank you for looking.

Tea Bag Folding
15/12/11
Made this yesterday, I had intended it for the Unstampabelles January Challenge, but have since made something else which I like better. That doesn't mean I don't like this card, only that the one I made today, I like even better.
For this I used a ribbed white base card available from Blue Edge Crafts, (see link to the right) the blue and yellow card stock is Bazzil Linen. I used a Martha Stewart border punch to only partially punch the blue layer.
I used a small white doily behind the blue Pendant cut using Spellbinders Shapeabilities Eyelet pendent (Blue Edge Crafts). The Tea Bag medallion is made using Tea-bag folding papers No. 005 from my stash, I've had them so long I can't remember where I got them from. I finished the medallion with gems plus the centre is decorated with a Prima " Say it in Studs' and a Spellbinders Shapeabilities ribbon banners. I'll use a peel off to add the sentiment when I finally decide what occasion to use the card for.
The blue and yellow together is a lovely bright and cheery combination and pick up the colours in the tea bag papers.
Thank you for looking,
Happy Crafting,
Beth.

Christmas Recycling
11/12/2011
In the age of dwindling resources, those who recycle can feel justifiably pleased with themselves.
I have always kept the handmade cards I've been given over the years, because as a cardmaker myself, I know how much time and effort often goes into the making of them, and I hate the thought of throwing away someone Else's hard work.
My pile of handmade cards therefore has grown to alarming proportions, but I still can't bring myself to discard them.
This year I decided to select about 6 of those beautiful cards, and recycle them. Early on in the new year, I cut the fronts off a select few, and put aside for re-working, not such a good idea in hindsight because now I don't remember who the originator was to give them their due credit. So sorry ladies, if you see what you believe was one of your cards in todays post, please let me know and I'll edit to include your credit.
I have made in some cases significant changes to the original, in fact none of the cards is simply remounted, I've made tweeks to all of them, some more than others.
As I didn't make the originals, I can't give you details of products used. I will however mention what I've added and / or deleted / replaced.
So here are some of my re-cycled, pre-loved Christmas cards.
This one I mounted onto the red card before mounting back onto a white base card I finished by adding the silver Merry Christmas Peel off.
I adore this digi image, I have it in my own collection. it was originally mounted onto a white base card. I added stitching to the pricked holes all around each layer, recoloured the main image as originally it was quite pale which enabled me to make some tonal changes. I added Kindy Glitz to the wings, and glitter to the berries in her hair. I finished by added a continuous Merry Christmas glitter border around the image and mounted onto a wisteria base card.
I made very little change to this one, I mounted onto a green base card and added the green Merry Christmas sticker.
The last one I did had a cream and gold ribbon across, I removed the ribbon and stuck some Stampin Up glitter glass on the adhesive, which I then covered with Glossy accents to not only keep it in place, but to sort of seal it. I mounted it onto white card then onto a Stampin Up Rich Razzelberry base card then finished by adding a Rich Razzleberry bow and a gold peel off Merry Christmas sticker. Oh nearly forgot, I also coloured the flowers with R.Razzelberry ink.
All in all I'm really please with my recycling efforts. There was another card which I didn't get around to re working. which is why there are only five, not six.
Hope you enjoy my recycling efforts and remember, if you recognise one or more as your original work, please let me know so I can edit the post.
Happy crafting.

Crafting with Heather
8/12/2011
Another lovely day crafting with a lovely lady! thanks Heather, you make crafting days something special.
Today we made another two Christmas cards each (there has to be time for lunch and chatting)
Here are the cards we made (we both made two the same, or at least very similar)
I'll put some details after the photo.
The cards are easel cards. The base card is Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler. There are two different papers used for the green layer, one is Kaszazz Alpine Flourish, and the other is Kaiser 6 1/2" paper pad Dec 25th.
The red layer is Kaszazz Greetings / dots
The pearl layer under the fussy cut image is Kaszazz Opal Essentials bling. The image is a Magnolia stamp which was stamped onto Stampin Up whisper white then coloured with Copic's, I'll list the colours at the end. The snowflakes are punched using Martha Stewart punches. The fur on Santa's suit is done with Alison Ellis Sparkle 'n' Soft Twinkling clouds which I got from Blue Edge Crafts, it gives a lovely sparkly flocked effect.
The edges of each layer were inked with distress ink Aged Mahogany, and the sentiment is from Stampin Up's set called Heard from the heart and stamped in Cherry Cobbler,
The ribbon is 1.5cm wide satin edged organdy ribbon.
I originally posted that the image was from Kasazz, I'm sorry but that is incorrect, the image is actually a Magnolia image.
All the Kaszazz products can be bought from Heather Blencowe @ hblencowe@bigpond.com
Please contact me for Stampin Up products, and use the Blue Edge Crafts link for products from their range.
All my copics come from Paper Flourish or Camelot Studio.
The copic markers I used are
Sketch R0000 & R000

Still preping for Christmas
I mentioned the other day that I was going to make some little boxes for my Christmas lunch table. I decided to make them into place settings.
I used Stampin Up's Mini Milk Carton die by Sizzex and cut 2each in 5 colours, I used Always Artichoke, Pear Pizzaz, Cherry Cobbler, Concord Crush and Whisper White.
I decorated the boxes with scraps from a now discontinued double sided paper pack called Jolly Holiday, I printed out the names on whisper white and punched them out using the Stampin Up ornament punch, tied some tinsely red elastic around the top and mounted with dimensionals. a 2cm strip in contrasting colour was cut and scored in half to close the top, only one side was stuck down with score tape, then a mini Library clip was added to keep closed. Each box will hold 2 Farrero Rocher chocolates.
My next project comes from Split Coast Stampers. It's a tag card and to make it stand up for display I've added a stand at the back using a Tim Holtz Sizzex die called Small Easel. Again I've used scraps from Jolly Holiday by Stampin Up. The image is a vintage father Christmas which I printed myself. It came from a collection of vintage Christmas images. Finished with some ribbon and rhinestones and a Christmas rub on the top of the tag.
This is the link for this card: http://splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/pocket_...
This next project I found on You Tube, Unfortunately I didn't make a note of the name of the person who's video I saw, but I believe she was casing an idea from somebody else.
For my card I used SU Concord Crush, Almost Amethyst & Whisper white for the snowflake and sentiment.
I used the 4 smallest dies from the Spellbinders Heirloom ornament set, then embossed them with stars, and snowflakes using Cuttlebug embossing folders, I added some stickles around the embossed edge of each bauble and the three top die cuts are mounted with dimensionals, the bottom layer is stuck down flat.
I used the technique of partially cutting a die to only cut out one side of the 2nd largest die which gives the shape to the front of the card.
The card it's self is a 3 fold card the front has the bauble, the next fold has the snow flake and also a border cut using a SU Doily border punch, and the inside is paper with the same stamped shooting star which I stamped on the first two layers of the card using Concord crush ink, so it's tone on tone. the stamp if from SU's So Happy for you stamp set, and I also punched out a snowflake using a Martha Stewart snowflake punch so that the background colour shows through. The snowflake is cut using Spellbinders 2010 Snowflake Pendant die set which I inked before cutting the card for one layer, stencilled the next layer, and topped with a punched snowflake.
I added a little hanging ribbon and gems to finish.
Thank you for looking

This next project I found on You Tube, Unfortunately I didn't make a note of the name of the person who's video I saw, but I believe she was casing an idea from somebody else.

Christmas is fast approaching!
I thought I had made all the Christmas cards I needed, or wanted. However, I keep finding more ideas for wonderful cards which I just have to make.
The next card falls into that category "Must make". I was browsing Split Coast Stampers, and followed a link to Utube, where I saw a really lovely card made by Shonz14nw. My card below is not exactly the same, but close enough to be recognizably based on her lovely work.
I used I've used nearly all Stampin Up products for this card.
The base card is Night of Navy, and the white is of course, Whisper White. The stamp is from the Lovely as a Tree set, and the sentiment is from the Contempo Christmas set.
I used two Spellbinder dies to make the sentiment mount, the long scalloped rectangle and one of the smaller pieces from Doodle bits set.
I used Limeade marker pen to very lightly add a touch of colour to the centre tree, then used a zip pen to add some glue to adhere the glitter.
The only none SU item used was the Cuttlebug embossing folder of Reindeer antlers for the background, which I also glitzed.
I finished off with two SU 1/2 pearls on the sentiment banner.
Here is the link if you want to see the original.

My next card, uses the adorable Tatty Teddy. This one is from "Winter Wonderland" A4 ultimate decoupage die-cut pack which makes 80 cards.
This is an easel card and other than the base card which is a ribbed card from Blue Edge Crafts, all the other elements are basically from my scrap box.
Now I'm off to make bonbonnaire for my Christmas Lunch table.
Happy Crafting!

Chocolate Boxes
Craft Mad have a bi-weekly get together online where we craft and chat.
Last night was the latest, and Kaye had another great project for us that was both quick and easy, but looks great and perfect for those last minute little gifts at any time.
Last night I made the blue box with the bird cage and today I made the two Christmas boxes as I just found out I have two extras for Christmas day, and I have to give them a little something!
Here are my boxes.
The boxes are made using Bazill card stock. the Blue box is decorated using Tim Holtz alterations Caged Bird die, Blue bird cage pattern paper.
The Christmas boxes are decorated using 3d Christmas images from Blue Edge Crafts, I bought them a couple of years ago and while I'd made them up, I've only just got around to using them so can't remember the name of the sheets..
Thank you for looking.
Happy Crafting.

Christmas Card in Blues
I've had an excellent day today! a girl friend (Heather) came over and we spent the day chatting, lunching and making cards, well, we got 2 cards each made. Very relaxed and enjoyable.
This is the card we made, We used a 14cm x 14cm white base card which we inked with Distress ink in faded jeans, then stamped the background flourish using the same ink. the snowflake border, tag and scallop circle were cut from Night of Navy card, using a Stampin Up punch for the circle and a Spellbinders Shapeabilities tag die, the snowflake border is a Martha Stewart border punch. The candle image and sentiment is from Kaszazz. Ordering details of Stampin Up and Kasazz items used will be listed at the end of todays blog.
The candle image is fussy cut and decorated with Stickles, glitter and rhinestones. the sentiment and tag are mounted on Dimensionals.
Heather made some truly delicious sausage rolls for lunch. I will definitely be trying that recipe myself.
For Kasazz supplies you can contact Heather at Hblencowe@bigpond.com she will be more than happy to assist you with ordering from the current catalogue.
